Board Election Process & Structure
The ECA’s Board of Directors is comprised of up to 16 directors, 1 director ex-officio (the chair of the board), and up to 4 appointed board members. Directors represent the association's 4 classifications of membership: General Contractors (3), Trade Contractors (3), Manufacturers & Suppliers (3) and Architects & Engineers (2). Directors are elected for 3-year terms.
ECA Board Members are volunteers that require 75-100 hours of personal commitment per year. This includes four quarterly board meetings, an annual 3-day board retreat, as well as board committee responsibilities.
Nomination Eligibility Criteria
It is an expectation that firms nominate candidates with significant or senior leadership, authority, and oversight in their firm to be eligible to run for the board.
The 2027 Election
Board nominations will take place October 5-19, 2026, with results announced on November 20, 2026.
We are required to elect 3 Directors for the 2027-2029 term:
2 candidates to represent the Manufacturers & Suppliers classification
1 candidate to represent the General Contractor classification

Board Elections Open: Thursday, October 29 2026, 10:00 AM ABT
Board Elections Close: Friday, November 13, 2026, 2:00 PM ABT
Results Announced: Friday, November 20, 2026
The Election Process
The election will be administered by Simply Voting Inc., a third party that specializes in online voting.
The primary contact listed for each full-member firm will receive one ballot. The ballot will indicate the total number of open seats in each category – GCs, Trades, Manufacturers and Suppliers, Architects or Engineers. The ballot will include all voting opportunities for each category; each voting firm will be able to place one vote for each open seat. Election results will be compiled upon closing.
It is important for associate members to understand that while they may participate in many aspects of the organization, they do not possess voting rights. In the event that an associate member is elected to a position, they will need to must transition prior to assuming board responsibilities in December must transition prior to assuming board responsibilities in December in order to gain those rights and allow them to vote on matters concerning the ECA Board. This ensures that all voting members have a commitment to the organization as full members.
Nomination Details
Each member firm is eligible to nominate a representative from their firm to stand for election by completing the nomination form.
Each nominee must submit:
A professional biography in WORD format; “.doc file”, no PDF’s (max. 250 words), outlining the nominee’s current position, industry experience, and any industry or community volunteer activities. This information will appear on the online ballot.
A high-quality headshot photo for use on the ballot (JPEG or PNG format only)
Nomination Form. The email and phone contact details will not be included on the ballot.
