Did you know that 70% to 90% of the problems/challenges encountered on most construction projects are predictable and preventable? Carrying out a risk analysis at the onset of any project will highlight many of these challenges and increase the chance of completing the project successfully. This hands-on workshop enables project managers to considerably reduce the time they spend putting out fires and as such increase their productivity.

Workshop description 

This practical One-day workshop introduces the participants to the concepts, principles,

processes, best practices, and application of risk management in a project environment. The workshop follows the PMI latest risk management principles and practices.

Format and Methodology 

This one-day workshop is delivered live online using the Zoom platform

The workshop is delivered through lectures, class discussions, individual and group case studies, and exercises. The workshop will help participants to understand and develop risk management skills. Participants will get several opportunities to apply the process to a real-life project. Participants will learn and practice firsthand, some of the tools that will help them to reduce project surprises and meet owner expectations.

Risk management toolbox

Participants will take home a risk management “tool box”. The toolbox is a collection of several checklists, forms, and graphs.

Computer System Requirement:

  • Desktop/laptop is required. Dual monitors are recommended. No phones, please.
  • A microphone, speaker, and webcam are required.
  • High-speed internet connection is recommended.

The workshop instructor

He has 40+ years of PM practical experience covering a wide range of Project Management and technical areas, including 30 years with Public Works and Government Services Canada, where he led and oversaw the training of 150 Project Managers.

Dr. Fahmy's enthusiasm for teaching makes his workshop a highly informative, interactive, and entertaining experience. He is one of Alberta’s most in-demand construction educators. He has taught workshops (including workshops at the graduate level) for NAIT, the University of Calgary, and the University of Alberta; and he is a retired Global Registered Educational Provider.
