Backwoods Energy Services Limited Partnership o/a Backwoods Energy Services is owned by Treaty 6 - Alexis Nakota Sioux Nation. We are one of the largest Indigenous community-owned energy services companies in Alberta and are among the largest Indigenous contractors to Trans Mountain, TC Energy, Teck Coal, Chevron Canada, and Pembina Pipeline.  Backwoods Energy Services provides construction services to the oil, gas, utility, and forestry industries in Western Canada with an experienced team and a fleet of equipment built to suit the needs of small to large-scale projects. We are experienced in completing civil, reclamation, remediation, lease abandonment, pipeline integrity and mechanical construction, access roads construction, well pads, laydown yards, and ponds, excavation and backfill, final grading (aggregate, geo-textile and geo-membrane supply and installation).

Our Access solutions team can provide fit for purpose pre-access matting assessments and layouts, mobilization/demobilization, installation and removal, transportation, storage, logistics, cleaning/washing and repair.

Our Security team has deployed to a broad range of businesses and workplaces and designed detailed plans to protect everything from remote oil and gas sites to crowded entertainment venues, construction, and residential sites.
