New Tools For The Job : How to Build A Mental Health Foundation That Will Last A Lifetime
April 5, 2022 (9:30 AM - 11:00 AM) (MDT)
Description
Physical safety is paramount on a construction site, but more and more employers are recognizing the importance of employee mental health. Did you know that construction workers are at higher risk for suicide than other industries? Yet many companies find these conversations to be quite difficult on a job site or factory floor.
Add to the everyday challenges of the industries and employers are recognizing that caring for employee mental health needs to be a priority going forward. A recent survey by Willis Towers Watson showed that nearly all (86%) of employers said that mental health, stress, and burnout are a topic priority, yet only about half (49%) have formally developed a well-being strategy.
What are you doing to support your employee's mental health?
As a workplace mental health advocate, Kris Marks will share his personal story highlighting his career in the trades and how mental health personally affected him in the workplace. This interactive conversation will offer insights into how employers can support workers' mental health and will provide practical strategies to help leaders recognize when you or someone you know is struggling. We'll share resources for supporting your own and your colleague's mental health at work, whether you are a site supervisor, foreman, or co-worker.
