INTRODUCTION:

Communication skills are pivotal for the success of any project, as well as for personal and business achievements. Effectively dealing with colleagues, team members, and superiors is essential for a harmonious and productive construction work environment. This workshop aims to equip project managers with the skills necessary for streamlined communication, making their roles more efficient and effective.

DESCRIPTION:

This intensive one-day communication skills workshop is specifically tailored to address individual communication needs in challenging environments and situations. Beginning with self-awareness, participants will delve into understanding communication models, identifying barriers and blockers, and ultimately distinguishing between poor and positive communication.

LEARNING OBJECTIVES:

By the end of this interactive workshop, participants will:

  • Communicate effectively with colleagues, managers, and team members, fostering understanding and reducing stress.
  • Improve communication by examining and applying communication models.
  • Enhance trust and communication within teams.
  • Navigate difficult and challenging situations with effective communication.
  • Identify strategies to reduce and manage conflicts.

FORMAT AND METHODOLOGY:

Participants will engage in hands-on learning through in-class exercises, with opportunities for follow-up applications at work. The facilitator employs a variety of teaching methods, including video analysis, practice sessions, role-playing, and case studies.

Participants will leave the course with two invaluable resources:

  • A Quick Reference Guide: Summarizing key workshop messages.

TARGET AUDIENCE:

This workshop caters to the communication needs of various construction roles, including project managers, team members, employees, employers, supervisors, assistants, and others.

COURSE DELIVERY APPROACH

  • This One-day course is delivered on-line instructor-Led, live on zoom.
  • The sessions are interactive, participants’ contributions are expected and welcomed.
  • The day is divided into Sections, varies between an hour to two hours
  • Each session includes lecturing c/w examples, learning activities and group discussions.
  • Be prepared to share your opinion to enhance common understanding.
  • There is a 10-minute break every hour.

 DELIVERY SCHEDULE

Course start at 8:30 AM and ends at 4:30 PM with one hour lunch break

COMPUTER SYSTEM NEEDED

  • Desktop/laptop is required. Dual monitors are recommended. No phones please.
  • A microphone, speaker, and webcam are required.
  • Be prepared to share your camera to enhance communication and understanding.
  • High speed internet connection is recommended.
  • Familiarity with google documents and sheets are recommended.

MORNING SESSION: UNDERSTANDING COMMUNICATION:

  • Definition and importance of communication.
  • Exploration of the communication model.
  • Identification of barriers and blockers.
  • Recognition of signs of poor communication.
  • Practical exercises and development of personal action plans.

AFTERNOON SESSION: APPLICATIONS:

  • Creation and utilization of a Communication Plan.
  • Addressing team communication challenges.
  • Effective communication through emails.
  • Utilizing behavior types to enhance communication.
  • Best practices and pitfalls in project meetings.
  • Practical application exercises and development of personal action plans.
