For the past 27 years, FMI has been developing industry leaders for the built environment. With a network of 10,000 alumni and more than 1,000 organizations across the industry, the Leadership Institute provides a world-class experience for individual growth and peer learning.

Come join us as we endeavor to build a better future for the built environment by developing exceptional leaders, one at a time.

Since 2015, 150 executive and senior architects, engineers, contractors, and trades have experienced the ECA-FMI Canadian Leadership Institute at Kananaskis.

The CLI is a totally unique experience, featuring 3 intensive days of simulations - 23 hours of instructional time, assessments, and one-on-one coaching. For 20+ years, FMI Corporation has been presenting Leadership Institutes to the American construction market. Now, in partnership with the ECA, that training is available right here in Alberta.

The CLI helps firms develop the executive leadership teams that ‘everyone wants to work with’ – teams who not only understand the technical side of construction, but also how to work with others to set direction, align resources, motivate staff, and encourage collaboration.

Here are a few of the companies putting their key players through the CLI: Aman Builders • CANA High Voltage • Carlson • Chandos • Clark Builders • Deep Foundations • EllisDon • Emcee • Fillmore • GS Holdings • Icom Refrigeration • Jen-Col • Ledcor • ONE Properties • PCL • Scorpio Masonry • Thermo Design Insulation • Vital Engineering

Participants come out of the CLI re-energized, re-engaged, and confident about their path forward as leaders.

"Very insightful. This program will open your eyes to what may be holding you back from being even more effective. It gave me the tools to approach my challenges and weak areas from a different point of view.” — Terry Bateman, Sr Construction Manager at CANA Construction ltd.

“You will learn deeply about yourself. Why you do the things you do. I enjoyed seeing and experiencing the 'developing leaders one at a time.'” — Cory Jodoin, President, Jen-Col

When you participate in the CLI, you will discover how to leverage your leadership abilities for maximum effectiveness. You can expect experiential learning, lively discussions, powerful assessments in a feedback-rich environment, an action plan, and follow-up.

“The one-on-one feedback and assessments were extremely valuable in helping me understand myself. This will definitely help me relate and manage my staff more effectively.” — Mark Lindquist, President, Emcee Construction and Management Ltd.

“The program questions what is holding you back from becoming a great leader. It shows you what to do to be a great leader.” — Adam Pressacco, Controller, Abstract Developments
